ANNA WINTOUR IS NEVER WRONG !
In a recent interview held at the WWD Apparel and Retail CEO Summit, Leslie Moonves, the chief executive officer of CBS Corp. sat down for an exclusive interview with none other than Vogue US' s editor in chief and artistic director Condé Nast, Anna Wintour.
The talk revealed various golden quotes, mostly related to the industry of printed media in fashion and leadership. I decided to pin-point the one that struck me most, as this lesson can apply to any career path one might want to follow. It goes as follows:
“I think possibly what people working for one hate the most is indecision. Even if I’m completely unsure, I’ll pretend I know exactly what I’m talking about and make a decision. The most important thing I can do is try and make myself very clearly understood.”
So, I assume this exact mindset also guided her revolutionary decision back in 1988 to have her first ever Vogue US cover, depicting a young, modern woman (portrayed by Israeli model Michaela Bercu) , effortlessly wearing a $10,000 bejeweled T-shirt by Christian Lacroix and a $50 pair of stonewashed Guess jeans. This cover photographed by the legendary Peter Lindbergh and styled by the genious Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele started a complete revolution in contemporary fashion, literally screaming the begining of a new era: the high-low streetstyle !
If you haven't finished sipping on your cup of coffee/tea this morning and want an empowering good read to start your day with, go to WWD for the complete interview of this royal lady of fashion.
I'll leave you now with another quote to power up your day (and life) !
“It’s very important to take risks. I think that research is very important, but in the end you have to work from your instinct and feeling and take those risks and be fearless. When I hear a company is being run by a team, my heart sinks, because you need to have that leader with a vision and heart that can move things forward.”
So, in a nut shell, BE FEARLESS !
