How to start your own blog: Develop your idea and make it count!

20 June, 2015

"Be so good they can't ignore you!" (Steve Martin)

I've pretty much used this phrase in all my school reports and presentations and I will probably use it all my life because it's so TRUE.
I haven't written such a post before, but I know there are so many of you who have either thought of opening a blog or maybe you’ve done it already but don't know what to do next.
First of all, don't believe that the market is saturated. Yes, blogging might not be so much of a newness anymore - we are living in a digital era after all, with so many websites, apps or online magazines developing as we speak. However, there is room for everyone!

When I started this blog in 2012 I had no intention of getting something out of it, other than using it to express my creativity. Things have changed in the meantime and my goals have grown which strengthens my belief that opening this online platform is the best thing I have done for my future.
Although I haven't put 100% energy into it, having had no intention to turn it into a full-time occupation so far, my blog has helped me get where I am now, as cheesy as it may sound.
So I truly encourage all of you to open a personal online canvas which you can paint with your own unique vision. If you are not present digitally nowadays, you are pretty much invisible.

It doesn’t take much to start. You just need a name (not even a logo at the beginning) and a blog host. Blogger is the easiest, but for better website development I recommend Wordpress.

Then start thinking about what you want to talk about, what do you want to inspire the world with. But don’t think too much. Just do it as soon as thinking takes up too much of your time. Good things do come to those who wait but I believe you can make them happen faster.
(I personally hate waiting)

Just start experimenting! Take good pictures and start posting. Write without any SEO in mind, test the market, make people believe in your point of view, make them trust you. Then everything will come together naturally, organically.

Everyone has a unique vision and people have different preferences when it comes to blogging. There is surely someone who will LOVE what you are doing.

So the only secret here is to be GOOD. Have a good intention when blogging! Be SO GOOD they can’t ignore you can also have a different understanding of course. You do have to be really good at providing quality content, in terms of imagery and language. Develop a  simple style you can stick to and always spell-check, double spell-check!

This is just a brief introduction on how and why you should start blogging now! Competition only helps the market prosper. Bloggers are really ambitious and passionate which surely means they will never stop inspiring us. They will only strive to get better and better by providing great content and by proving they are here to stay.

Chances are you will be the next big star. Just remember to stay true to yourself and never be jealous. Just stay focused on who you are and who you want to grow into.

I want to make a whole series regarding how to start and develop a blog, so reach out with any specific topics you are interested in: from inspiration resources for logos/imagery to networking hubs and to building brand credibility. I promise to help you with all I can!

P.S. It's a jungle out there, but we can make it a friendly one! Let's keep blogging alive and thriving!

Love,
